I’m gonna blame the clumping of posts this time on the snow and bitter cold we are having here in southwest Montana. -14°F. You crazy. I need a beach and a day at Disney world, like, yesterday.
*edit...I decided to not be lazy and do a separate post for chapter 7 and chapter 8. Ch 8 will come tomorrow....hopefully š
Chapter 7 of my bag sewing adventure is The Fanny pack by Proper Fit Clothing. Truth be told I wasn’t very excited about a Fanny pack most likely because it brought back horrible memories of when Fanny packs first hit their peak in the 90s. MTV spring break, Vanilla Ice, me at 10 years old wearing a Fanny pack and getting a glimpse at my future mom waistline. Sigh. BUT, I saw Jess’s Mini Fanny pack tutorial and it was so cute. Time to face the vanilla ice ice baby (golly I’m a dork).
I went with a stacked Super Mario fabric from Joann’s to coordinate with the amazing Luigi zipper pull and Mario themed webbing from Mojo’s Loom Knits. I followed Jess’s instruction and extended the side panel piece by 1/4” on the diagonal side and got to sewing. It all came together so much easier than I thought possible and to my surprise I love the end result! My 10 year old self is finally in with the cool kids! Only 24 years too late...
Make sure to cut down the foam by 3/8” to reduce the bulk in those seams. Don’t worry Jess shows ya how to do that too. She’s so good ❤️
Now go run (virtually) to Mojos Loom knits and snag some awesome pulls and webbing and make a Fanny pack! The music might not be as good as the 90s but boy are we all gonna look super fly! šš¤¦š»♀️
